Offshore and warm

report - 1.5m SW Swell. 10 - 15 kt North wind. 1.00pm high

yesterday was the day, if you managed to find the right bank at high tide. Light, warm offshores all day, with pretty much the right swell height for good waves around Sth Arm. Its smaller today, but the north end of beaches are still picking enough swell for the odd decent ride. Its still offshore right now.

Reports have come in of nice banks and head high waves at the south facing locations on the Tasman, with similar conditions for tomorrow expect some crowds around.

weekend onshores

report - 3-4m SW swell. Very strong w - sw winds. 1.15 pm low

the swell is on the increase. Unfortunately after quite a good week its been onshore all weekend.

Also doesnt look like getting big enough for the points. maybe some small ones if lucky.

The winds are looking better for Tuesday and wed so hopefully the swell will hang around a bit. The tides are also favourable for morning waves this week.

now that winter is approaching the amount of people in the water is getting less and less, but whilst the air is cool, water temps are still ok. No need for the hoods etc just yet.

Groundswell

Report - 4m SW Groundswell. 15knt NW wind (before shifting SW). 12.46 Low.

Get into the protected corners this morning and surfing was quite pleasant. A good solid groundswell brought plenty of 3ft waves, unfortunately the outgoing tide meant most were shutting down. But with a bit of patience and luck the occasional one held up for a fast ride across the face.

Crowds were non existent all along South Arm.

The wind has turned SW now, so its pretty much all over until tomorrow morning.

Where did the waves go

Report - 3m SW Swell. 10kt NNW. 12.12 low

The 3m swell must have been real westerly as it wasnt producing anything over 2 ft this morning.

Plenty on offer yesterday around South Arm, especially in the afternoon as the tide came in and the seabreeze kicked in quite late.

The east coast fired over the weekend as the wind switched from NE - SW and the easterly swell hung around for a few more days than predicted.

No photos, sometimes you just want to surf.

The autumn weather pattern is well settled in with calm days, but decent swells rolling in from down south.

Things are looking pretty good in the morning for the next couple of days, so find a bank and hit it.

Report - 2m SW swell. 15 - 20kt Northerlies. 11.30 Low.

Lets face its small today. But nice enough weather to go for a paddle. There are a few decent waves, but its a long wait between. Long enough for your hair to dry out.

So now its just the waiting game as big things are predicted for the end of the week. Just hope it all plays out as expected. Hopefully then I will have some photos worth posting again

Report - 1m SW swell. Early light SE winds. Tides - not important really.

2 days with no work and a flat spell hits.

On such a day, what else can you do.

-Get out there and go fishing. Put the boat in, dropped a cray pot at Bruny then caught a few squid on the way home

-Patch up the dings in your boards, just waiting for some waves now

-catch up on paperwork and accounting, ready for tax time

-hope and pray for some rain

Report - 15knt NE, 1.5m SW swell, 10.50 High.

yesterdays south swell hung around into the afternoon (along with Sunday crowds at Wedge), but has disappeared this morning. There are a few waves of decent size still around, but I couldnt find any decent banks. Various sections of the same stretch of beach, have very different wave sizes.

Its still offshore, so somewhere must be good.

Should be a warm day, for Tassie at least.

Missed it

report - 3.5m SW swell, early sw winds easing to se onshore. High Tide 9.50 am.

Apparently whilst I was away hiking through blizzards in the mountains the points got up and did there thing a couple of weeks ago. From reports it was the usual crowded haggling, so I cant say I am too disappointed.

Last week the wind when it wasnt howling in from the SW RSL's and rebounds had some good waves at high tide.

The corner at wedge was OK late this morning as the wind backed off before the sea breeze.

If the banks are still around then the SE predicted for tomorrow should see some fun around South Arm. Or you could try your luck on the east coast somewhere.

Report - 5mSW Swell. 20 - 30kt Sw winds. 1.00pm High tide.

Finally some action. Points were on this arvo albeit a little on shore and inconsistent,but at least crowds were down.

predictions for tomorrow are looking good for just about any spot facing south, especially the morning.

Cant catch a break

Report - 2.5 Sw swell. 15 - 20kt sw winds.

I am sure there are waves somewhere in TAS, its just that I can't find them. The supposed cyclone swell never showed up on the East coast early this week, and there were many dissapointed faces at EagleHawk on Sunday.

South Arm beaches have been small all week, with good winds and tides yesterday, many made the trek up to Lumpys.

Hopefully the next few days will be ok in the mornings with some light offshores predicted.

Summer Strikes Back

Report - 1.5m wsw swell. Westerlies all day. Tide - not so important

Its been back to average to nothing again this week. After the previous weeks epic surf, its kind of hard to take.

The east coast is looking up early next week and there should be some nice groundswell from TC Wilma currently moving south from Fiji to NZ.

get the guns ready and be prepared to travel.

Swell Drought Broken

Report - 2m SE. Easterly Sea Breeze. 8.30 High (very high at 1.46m)

Finally swell has arrived. Its got lots of East in it, so I assume that Clifton is rather small whilst RSLs is well overhead, making it just too big really.

But Wedge is on, its even handling the sea breeze fairly well, but will likely get a bit mushy as the day goes on. Expect more of the same tomorrow morning, but get in early to beat the sea breeze.

Those willing to burn fossil fuels this week, and get up early should also have scored good waves somewhere along the East Coast this week. Its basically been at least 2 ft (or sometimes 5ft) and offshore right up until today. Even now with the SE swell the protected NE corners will be ripping.

It looks likely to continue for at least this week.

New Year

Report - 2m SW swell. Light ESE winds. 9.00am (approx)high tide

Its basically flat today.

The week starter out with a few waves around if you managed to beat the onshores and low tides. There are some marginal banks at North Goats and Sandpits.

The corner at RSL's produced some rebound wedges, but the swell with lots of west in it hasn't really been getting in there.

Unfortunately the swells all gone around south arm for this week.

Around town there are holiday makers everywhere with boats and jet skis. Should be all back at work at work next week, then we can have our town back.
